Summary

In a restaurant in London, one night, Hercule Poirot realizes a young woman, Jacqueline de Bellefort, dinner and dance with her boyfriend, Simon Doyle. Poirot also realizes that Jackie (a name given to her and used by the intimate nickname, short for Jacqueline) is passionately in love with Simon, perhaps too. Jackie's father was a French count, the count of Bellefort and his mother was American. His father was with a woman and her mother lost all his money in the stock market crash on Wall Street stealing her money. The next day, Jacqueline takes Simon to meet her best friend, the heiress Linnet Ridgeway, hoping that Simon offered a job Linnet. Three months later, Simon has broken his commitment to marry Jacqueline Linnet.
The Doyles planning an extended stay in Cairo, to throw Jacqueline, while secretly make booking passage on a cruise on the Nile River as Poirot. To his rage, Jacqueline learns of his plans and appears on board with them.
